Two Danish researchers have carried out Carbon-14 tests of Barolo luxury wines from 1960 to 2000 and have discovered that several of them were diluted with cheaper wines, according to videnskab.dk.

The research started in the 1990s but is still valid as many of the vintages are still being sold. The research method shows when wines are produced, and several of those studied had incorrect vintage dates on the bottle.
