Four Danish and three Belarussian election observers have been detained in Moldova, where the electorate goes to the polls today in a re-run of April general elections.
“As an observer I have never previously been detained for police questioning. It shows how nervous the authorities are for international interest in the election,” says Henrik Lindbo Larsen of the Silba private Danish organisation.
