Former Social Democratic Party Leader, Minister of the Environment and one of Denmark’s longest-serving members of parliament Sven Auken, 66, has died after a lengthy illness.
Auken was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2004 but initially appeared to have fought off the disease. It was re-diagnosed in 2007. Auken was admitted to hospital on July 8 after falling at his summerhouse and injuring his head. His death has been confirmed by sources within the Social Democratic Party.
