After a week of speculation following suggestions by Justice Minister Brian Mikkelsen (Cons.) that the Danish People’s Party could join the cabinet, the Conservative Party leadership and senior Liberal Party members have put their foot down. The time is not ripe for the DPP to join their government.

“I am sure that Brian Mikkelsen agrees with me that we will continue government with the Liberal Party – and only the Liberal Party,” Conservative Party Leader Lene Espersen said on TV2, effectively calling her Justice Minister to heel and slamming the door on his suggestions.
