The Scandinavian Airlines System has announced a new cost-cutting programme under which a further 1,000 to 1,500 employees are expected to be laid off.

"The Board of Directors and management of SAS AB have decided to launch an entirely new cost program amounting to SEK 2 billion to generate sustainable competitiveness,” SAS says in an announcement, adding the new cuts are in addition to savings of SEK 4.5 billion under the Core SAS programme.
