Lightning costs soccer player’s leg

Jonathan Richter of the FC Nordsjælland soccer club, who was struck by lightning during a training match on July 20, has had to have his left leg amputated from under the knee, according to a statement from his family.

Richter, who lay in a lengthy induced coma immediately following the accident, agreed to the amputation of the lower part of his limb, which was severely damaged by the lightning strike.
