Fredensborg Council, which includes the royal summer residence Fredensborg Palace, is in dire economic straits and is having to increase taxes by 0.8 percent and lay off 100 employees, according to Frederiksborg Amts Avis.

“This is the worst (situation) I have ever experienced – but we have been forced to cut down to the bone in order to balance our economy,” says Social Democratic Mayoral Candidate Thomas Lykke Pedersen.
