A two-minute leak from a safety valve at Statoil’s Kalundborg refinery sprayed diesel oil and vapour – in all some 13 tonnes – over a two kilometre area. No-one was hurt in the event, which took place at 8.30 a.m. this morning.
Police were contacted 20 minutes later, but were not aware of the extent of the incident and did not send an on-site commander to the area until 10.40 a.m.
