Refuse strike widens

A refuse collection strike that began three weeks ago in Copenhagen’s western suburbs has now spread to the capital.

The wildcat pay and conditions strike in the western suburbs has meant that refuse remained uncollected for most of October. HCS company collectors effectively laid themselves off last week after choosing to continue their industrial action, despite a ruling from the Labour Court. Collectors have since been attempting to stop refuse collection on their old routes.
