Overall in 2009, 5,879 companies went bankrupt, a 50 percent increase on 2008 and a record number since the Experian credit rating agency began compiling bankruptcy statistics.
Worst hit were companies in Funen and Eastern Jutland. On Funen some 83 percent more companies went bankrupt than in 2008 while Eastern Jutland saw a 77 percent increase.
