Mbugua Mureithi is a Nairobi lawyer who was appointed to defend a 28-year-old Somali during his seven-week detention in Kenya last year. The Somali is currently under charge in Denmark for attempting to kill the cartoonist Kurt Westergaard.

Mureithi says the Danish embassy contravened Kenyan law by hurrying him out of the country, at a time when a writ of habeas corpus had been issued on the man in connection with another case.

A Danish court has banned the public naming of the 28-year-old Somali. As a result, in places where Mureithi uses it, the name has been edited out.
