Denmark’s Foreign Ministry has been in touch with nine of the 11 Danes who are believed to have been in Haiti when the earthquake struck. All nine are said to be well under the circumstances but say that the situation is chaotic.
“We are trying to get those Danes who want to leave out of the country, but it is difficult to get to the capital Port-au-Prince. Everything is destroyed and chaotic,” says the duty officer at the Foreign Ministry’s Public Assistance Department.
