An overwhelming majority of the electorate feels that it was wrong for Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Lene Espersen (Cons) to go on a 5-day private holiday to Mallorca instead of attending an intimate meeting of five foreign ministers which included Secretary of State Hilary Clinton and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

The foreign ministers of the US, Russia, Canada and Norway met on March 29 in Canada for discussions on the Danish-instigated Arctic 5 initiative designed to discuss the development, exploitation and delineation of Arctic areas. As a result of Espersen’s decision not to attend, Denmark sent Justice Minister Lars Barfoed instead.
