A 42-year-old policeman from Silkeborg in Jutland has pleaded guilty to 17 counts of arson, attempted arson, insurance scams and break-ins, prompting the Viborg court to remand him for four weeks to a psychiatric ward, according to Ritzau.
The many fires in the Balle district of Silkeborg over two months caused widespread concern among locals, where in all there were 10 cases of arson against houses and garages. The fires stopped when the Silkeborg police officer was detained.
