Finance Minister Claus Hjort Frederiksen says that 2010 is the final chance for local government if councils want to avoid a centralisation of their individual budgets.

Since 1970, Denmark has had a system under which the State and local government have agreed the overall local government budget framework, but details of individual budgets have remained in the local council domain.
