The government’s recent austerity package has affected its credibility, but at the same time a majority seems to accept that a broken promise by the finance minister is acceptable in the current financial situation, according to a Megafon poll for TV2 and Politiken.
The government has put forward an austerity package designed to cut DKK 24 billion off public spending by, among other incentives, reducing the unemployment benefit period from four to two years, and postponing top-end tax relief until 2014.
