Netto Foodstores Ltd. UK, which is owned by the Danish Dansk Supermarked group has been sold to Britain’s Asda Stores Ltd. for the sum of £778 million (DKK 6.3 billion), according to a Dansk Supermarked Stock Exchange report.

“Netto UK has been profitable and was voted Britain’s Discounter of the Year in 2009. We have major growth potential in Scandinavia and Northern Europe and feel that the time is ripe to strengthen our efforts in developing our businesses in these countries,” says Dansk Supermarked CEO Erling Jensen.
