Researchers of the Danish National Welfare Research Centre (SFI) are to begin a year-long canvas and census of street and massage parlour sex workers in the country.
Researchers intend to interview sex workers in order to map the prostitution environment and try to determine how many live from prostitution, which is not illegal in Denmark. The Ministry of Social Affairs has asked SFI to carry out the research in order to find out how many would like to give up prostitution, as well as determining how many foreigners are involved.
