Danes find 2.1 billion year old cells

Researchers from among others the University of Southern Denmark are in the process of re-writing the history of the earth after having found signs of multi-celled organisms dating back 2.1 billion years.

Hitherto, multi-celled organisms were thought to have appeared on earth some 500 million years ago, but the new research, published in Nature today, pushes that period back to 2.1 billion years.
