The Nordic Council is writing to Danish Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen to complain about the behaviour of Integration Minister Birthe Rønn Hornbech in connection with Denmark’s practice of expelling Nordic citizens.
Nordic Council MPs from all member states and from across the political spectrum are incensed that as the only Nordic country, Denmark expels Nordic citizens if, for example, they have been on social transfer payments for too long. The Council claims that the practice runs contrary to the Nordic convention on the mobility of citizens.
