As councils across the country are forced to cut deeply into their budgets and lay off hundreds of civil servants, Social Democratic Mayor Elvin Hansen of Odder Council is demanding a major pay rise, according to a report in Ekstra Bladet.
According to the report , Hansen is peeved at the fact that as political head of the council he gets much less pay than the council chief executive, and is suggesting an annual pay rise of about DKK 440,000 (EUR 54,000).
