The Economic Council of the Danish Labour Movement says that the public deficit will be somewhat less than envisaged, considerably reducing the government’s borrowing requirement to finance the public sector in 2010 and 2011, according to Børsen.
The new calculations by the Council show an overall reduced deficit in 2010 and 2011 of DKK 30 billion, with 2010 developing much better than foreseen nine months ago, and with economists suggesting that the government’s forecast of a DKK 80 billion deficit in 2011 is too pessimistic. AE economists expect a DKK 66 billion deficit in 2011.
