The Danish forward operating base Budwan – or Armadillo as it was previously called – is to be closed and dismantled, with men and materiel being move to other duties, according to Army Operative Command (HOK).
The base was established near the Helmand River some 10 km northeast of Gereshk in 2008 as a base for patrols in the area and as a support facility for coalition military operations in the Gereshk Valley. There is another Danish base some 10 km southwest of Gereshk.
