It remains unclear whether the Fehmarn connection between Denmark and Germany will be a bridge or a tunnel following a meeting between Minister for Traffic Hans Christian Schmidt and party traffic spokesmen.

According to figures produced by Schmidt at the meeting, a bridge would cost DKK 38.5 billion while a tunnel would cost DKK 37.5 billion. Two years ago when Danish politicians agreed to launch the massive project, the price for a bridge was DKK 33 billion and for a tunnel DKK 41 billion.
