The state will have to save a further DKK 2 billion next year as a result of unexpected cost overruns for further education, employment projects and asylum seekers, according to the government’s Economic Committee.
“We are working under the difficult circumstances of zero growth in the public sector. So when there is new expenditure it has to be balanced elsewhere. Initiatives must be financed kroner for kroner. But I must add that this is a positive story as the costs show that young people are flooding into high schools and universities,” says Finance Minister Claus Hjort Frederiksen (Lib).
