Nordic ministers call to stop Iran hanging

The Nordic foreign ministers have appealed to the Iranian authorities not to hang an Iranian woman sentenced for adultery, following reports that Sakineh Mohammadi-Ashtiani was to be hanged imminently.

“We are highly concerned over news reports that Ashtiani is to be executed in the next 24 hours,” Denmark’s Foreign Minister Lene Espersen said of the statement made by the five foreign ministers at the Nordic Council session in Reykjavik. Espersen had called on the ministers to issue a joint statement.
