Integration Minister Birth Rønn Hornbech was so concerned that a Danish People’s Party’s clampdown on immigration would become part of a new Immigration Agreement that she was willing to put her portfolio on the line, sources close to the discussions have told Politiken.
According to the sources, Birthe Rønn Hornbech told several government party members that she was prepared to relinquish her post as Integration Minister if the Danish People’s Party succeeded in increasing the immigrant spouse reunion age to 28 from the current 24.
