The government’s new points system cannot prevent applicants from achieving family reunions in the future – EU citizens are able to avoid the new points system by briefly moving to another EU country.
“Family reunion is not an immediate problem for EU citizens, who come under the EU rules for family residence,” Aarhus University Law Professor Jens Vedsted-Hansen tells Information. It is estimated that some 80 percent of families seeking reunions will be able to avoid the Danish points system.
