The number of replacement vehicle number plates that have been ordered over the past year has increased by 20 percent – as has the number of plates reported to the police as having been stolen.
“It has become so easy to steal number plates. Thieves are of all types – young lads who take them as souvenirs, organised thieves who use them to hide the identity of vehicles they use in robberies, break-ins and serious crime,” says Ch. Insp. Flemming Drejer of the North Zealand Police.
