Apart from the three Baltic countries, democracy has been in constant decline in the former Soviet Union since 2001, according to the latest annual report from the US-based Freedom House which was published last week.
One of the core reasons for the decline is Russia’s undemocratic influence on everyone else. In the sphere of democratic rights, Russia has led the movement from one regression to the next.
