Thursday has seen the Danish Navy’s anti-piracy vessel Esbern Snare embroiled in a confusing yo-yo as to whether it is to continue its role as a command and support vessel in the international effort to limit piracy off Somalia, or to come home.
The vessel was to have left the area to return home through the Suez Canal two days ago, but according to Defence Minister Gitte Lillelund Bech (Lib), a bureaucratic fumble meant that the vessel had not sought clearance for the canal, and would have to stay in the area for some days.
