The day after he has taken over the Ministry of Integration, Søren Pind (Lib) has caused a stir in the government alliance by confirming his view that integration is a misplaced concept, and the process should be called assimilation.
“Danish culture is mainly about trust and freedom. In those areas we have painted ourselves into a corner out of mistaken tolerance. In recent years this has been tied to the concept of integration, and that is not workable. I find the expression assimilation better,” Pind said yesterday, confirming views he first expressed in 2008.
