NATO’s members have agreed that the alliance should take over full command of UN sanctioned military operations in Libya, according to NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen.
“NATO Allies have decided to take on the whole military operation in Libya under the United Nations Security Council Resolution. Our goal is to protect civilians and civilian-populated areas under threat of attack from the Gaddafi regime,” Fogh Rasmussen said following a meeting of the alliance’s 28 members.
