While the government’s 2020 Plan, which is to be made public later today Tuesday, is expected to call for the abolition of the early retirement scheme, Finance Minister Claus Hjort Frederiksen says that it only needs to be adjusted rather than abolished.

A complete abolition of the scheme is no longer necessary in order to balance the economy over the next 10 years, and instead the government need only bring its 2006 Welfare Agreement forward with a gradual increase in the early retirement and pension ages.
