Despite major write-downs as a result of Amagerbankens bankruptcy, Danske Bank has come out of the first quarter with a post-tax profit of DKK 700 million, according to the Bank’s Q1 accounts.
“Overall, developments are positive. In Denmark and most of the concern’s other markets we have seen better macro-economic conditions. This has meant improvements in write-downs. In Ireland, however, the situation is still very difficult,” says Danske Bank CEO Peter Skaarup.
