Field Marshall Bernard Montgomery’s salute in front of Copenhagen Town Hall after Denmark’s liberation is one of the best-known pictures from the end of World War II in Denmark.
The picture was, however, only one of a group of 39 photographs in a large blue album presented by the allies to Copenhagen Council following Monty’s visit to Copenhagen on April 12, 1945.
