Despite the fact that Somali pirates shot at units from the Danish warship Esbern Snare, the Danish Special Prosecutor has decided not to prosecute the 24 men being held in the ship’s brig as there is no proof as to who fired the shots.
It was on May 12 that Denmark’s Command and Support warship Esbern Snare ordered a pirate mother ship off Somalia to halt for inspection. The vessel refused to stop and shots were fired at the Danish vessel, which returned fire.
