Child anti-depressants away from GPs

A majority in Parliament is looking to remove the right of general practitioners (GP) to prescribe anti-depressants for children and teenagers, with psychiatrists having to confirm prescriptions.

“We want to make sure that psychiatrists alone can initiate treatment with anti-depressants for children and young people under 18,” Socialist People’s Party Psychiatry Spokeswoman Özlem Cekic tells metroXpress. The Social Democrats and Danish People’s Party support the proposal.
