The Danish-Bahraini human rights activist Abdulhadi al-Khawaja has been sentenced to life in prison in Bahrain for spreading hatred towards King Hamad bin Isa al Khalifa.
Al-Khawaja, who is 50, was given political asylum in Denmark and subsequently Danish nationality and is one of Bahrain’s best-known activists. He was arrested on April 8 after having taken part in this spring’s dramatic demonstrations.
