The appeal case in last week’s life sentence against the Danish-Bahraini activist Abdulhadi al-Khawaja is to begin in Bahrain today, according to family members in a report in Berlingske.
Al-Khawaja, 50, was sentenced to life in prison last week on charges of offending King Hamad bin Isa al Khalifa, taking part in illegal demonstrations and encouraging unrest and conflict between Sunni and Shia Muslims.
