Denmark’s increased customs controls at its borders, which came into effect on July 5, are acceptable so far, according to a senior EU Commission source on the day that an EU mission is to arrive at the Danish border to inspect the new practice.
“Based on the information we now have about the arrangement that is already in place, we have not established a conflict with our rules. Up to now, and thanks to a good dialogue with Denmark, we have worked together effectively to ensure that the new controls are in keeping with the rules,” the source tells Politiken.dk.
