The Singapore-flagged Stella Kosan gas tanker repelled a group of pirates on Monday in the southern reaches of the Red Sea, according to the owners.
Armed guards on board the 120-metre Stella Kosan, which is operated by the Danish company Lauritzen Kosan, fired warning shots at a smaller fleet of pirate skiffs, after which the vessels made off.
