NATO will continue to monitor developments in Libya and operations against pockets of resistance in the country irrespective of the fact that Col. Gaddafi has lost his grip on the country.
“NATO will end its operations when the United Nations, the countries of the international contact group and the Transitional National Council agree that a new government has taken over power and can protect the civilian population. We will continue until our UN mandate has been fulfilled and there are no further threats against the civilian population,” NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen tells Politiken.dk.
