The European Commission is preparing a change in EU law which will give Brussels the decision-making rights to internal border controls, according to a report in Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ).
According to the FAZ report, the new regime will remove the final decision-making authority on internal borders from national governments, allowing only limited national border regimes in connection with for example soccer games, larger political events, attacks, epidemics or natural disasters.
