The Fitch ratings agency has placed Denmark’s largest bank Danske Bank on Rating Watch Negative (RWN) and is monitoring and deciding whether the bank’s A+ rating should be downgraded or maintained.
“The rating actions on Danske Bank particularly reflect the uncertainty in the development of the Danish and Irish economies,” Fitch says in its report, adding that Danske Bank's earnings capacity may suffer from a continued ‘asset quality erosion’ in these countries.
