Almost half of the mayors asked in a survey would like non-resident foreigners to be able to buy Danish summer cottages, but Urban, Housing and Rural Minister Carsten Hansen has no plans to amend Denmark’s current rules to allow Germans to buy Danish holiday homes.
According to the DR survey, 36 out of 77 mayors asked would like to allow non-resident foreigners to buy Danish summer cottages, while 32 mayors want to keep the current ban on foreigners owning summer real estate.
