Over the past decade the number of adults who take Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) medicine has rocketed from 800 to 15,000, despite the fact that the medicine only has approval for children and young people but not for adults.
According to Jyllands-Posten, the increase in the adult intake – many at 20 pills or more per day - has rung alarm bells at the National Health Board and The Danish Medicines Agency (DMA).
