EDITORIAL: The Egyptian dilemma

Egypt would not be served by the postponement of an election that has been promised, and planned, for Monday.

The young demonstrators on Tahrir Square – Cairo’s famous Freedom Square - are calling for the military to bow first to their demands and accept responsibility for the bloody suppression of the Egyptian uprising. That is not an unreasonable demand, although the balance of power in Egypt hardly makes it a realistic one.
