The prosecutor in the southern French town of Grasse has dropped a case against the Danish director Lars von Trier, who incensed international sensibilities at the Cannes Film Festival by making comments about Jews and Nazis.

“The case has been officially closed,” Prosecutor Jean-Michel Cailleau tells The Hollywood Reporter.
