Copenhagen District Court resounded to applause, laughter and tearful appreciation Thursday after a unanimous jury and panel of judges sentenced Marcel Lychau Hansen, 43, to life in prison on two counts of murder, six rapes, robbery and aggravated attempted arson.
Hansen, who showed no emotion as the sentence was read out, was found guilty earlier this week of all but one count of crimes committed over the past 23 years. These included the violent rapes of four young women – three of them only 14 at the time – who were raped in turn in 1995 and were present in court Thursday.
